FACT FINDING &FILING OF PETITION BEFORE HUMAN RIGHTS COMMISSION AGAINST POLICE BRUTALITY ON DALIT FAMILY

Kandhamal district always in the limelight due to violation of human rights by the police administration in different times. In the end of October 2019 a Dalit couple namely Amit Badaseth and his wife  Hemanti Badaseth was mercilessly beaten by the local police with CRPF personnel in the Bandiguda village of Kotagarh Police Station under the limits of Kandhamal district. After getting the information we had visited the spot and met the tortured family and collected the basic information regarding the matter. Then we filed a petition before the Odisha Human Rights Commission. Accepting our petition the OHRC has been order to S.P, Kandhamal for inquiry to the matter and in a separate order to Superintendent, MKCG Medical College to provide adequate treatment facility to the victims.

PROTEST AGAINST DEATH IN DETENTION CAMP IN AASAM:

Against the violation of human rights as well as death of 27 persons in detention camps who left out from the list of NRC, a protest was organized on 6th November at State Capital, Bhubaneswar. Under the banner of All India People’s Forum (AIPF), various concerned citizens joined the protest against such inhuman and anti-people polices of government.

YOUTH LEADERSHIP TRAINING CAMP

A two days Youth leadership Training was organized at Brahamanigaon from 21st-22nd November, where the various livelihood issues including Peace & Harmony was discussed and some action plan was finalised as follow-up activities of previous training and meetings.

DEMANDING JUSTICE FOR BHALIAGUDA FAKE ENCOUNTER

Demanding justice for the deceased family members of Bhaliaguda Fake Encounter a Mass Protest was organized at State Capital, Bhubaneswar after 7 years of said incidence. Hundreds of youth, women of Kandhamal including civil society and human right activists from Bhubaneswar were gathered at Lower PMG, Bhubaneswar and submitted memorandum to the Governor of Odisha.

OBSERVATION OF CONSTITUTION DAY:

On the Occasion of Constitution Day, a meeting was organized at Ora, Kotagada of Kandhamal district with the High School Students of Ora. The meeting was organized by the Volunteer of Kandhamal Peace Centre, Jirimiya Sunamajhi. The topic of the meeting was ‘Constitutional Rights of Tribal & Minorities’.

COMMUNITY MEETING ON RIGHTS & PEACE:

An community meeting regarding  the rights of people and peace was organized on 30th November at Budumundi where they discussed about their livelihood issues as well as peace and how to unite for peace and harmony. Mr Narendra Mohanty, Secretary, Campaign for Peace, Balabhadra Mallick, Volunter, Sarat Mallik, Rajendra Padra and others were discussed about the issues faced by the common public. The local people claimed that though they demanding the status of Ravenue village since 2011, their demand have not been fulfilled yet.
