Observation of Gandhi Jayanty (2nd October, 2019)

 

On the eve of 150th Birth Centenary of Mahatma Gandhi, we organized meeting in various places like group meeting at morning time and open meeting of women at afternoon at Brahmnigaon & Kiramha. When Mr Balabhadra Mallick, Sarat Mallick & others facilitated the small meetings and discussion on the necessity of Gandhian ideology in the present context to build peace and harmony within the society, Mrs.Laxmi Bagsing, Mamata Das, Balabhadra Mallick organized women’s meeting on the subject.

Stand With Kashmir for Peace-5th October

Demanding to take all appropriate measures for the restoration of normalcy in Kashmir, release all Kashmiris from the café and protesting the detention of political leaders and fact finding team members to entry to Kashmir a peaceful assemble was organised as’ Stand with Kashmir: Solidarity With People of Kashmir’ on 5th October, where we expressed our solidarity and joined with the programme at State Capital, Bhubaneswar

Community Meeting on Cultural Diversities

Meetings with the communities was organised at Gaheju village where the community leaders of Gaheju, Bijali and Dahu were gathered and a separate meeting was organized at Gudrigaon Village. The meeting was focused on present situation of the country as well as state and how can we work to build peace and harmony among the cross section of the society through utilizing the diversities among the communities.

Filing of Petition at OHRC on Development of Gumudumaha & Justice to the Victims

Justice has not been achieved after three years of Black Day on 8th July, 2016, when 5 innocents including on 1 ½ year aged child was killed by Security Forces as suspected Maoists in Gumudumaha Village of Kandhamal when the villagers were returning to their village after collecting their MGNREGS money from Baliguda State Bank, 23 km distance from their village. Neither they compensated as declared by government and according the order of Odisha Human Rights Commission (OHRC) nor the development activities has been completed during such long period like education, drinking water, electricity or communication etc.

We (I along with Human Right Lawyer Mr Biswapriya Kanungo) had filed a petition before the OHRC regarding the uncompleted and half- hazard development activities which were accepted and order has been sent to the Collector, Kandhamal to reply on petition within 4 week of time and next date has been fixed as 30th December, 2019.

Citizen’s Discussion on NRC/CAB

A Citizen’s Discussion and Meeting was organized in the last week of October by All India People’s Forum on National Registration of Citizenship (NRC) & Citizen’s Amendment Bill (CAB) Issue and it was decided to organize a democratic protest on 6th November at State Capital, Bhubaneswar demanding withdraw of in-human and anti-people NRC/CAB.
