Ahmedabad Peace Centre

15 posts

More than just a physical space, the Ahmedabad Peace Centre serves as a hub of activities that promote peace. The objective of the Ahmedabad Peace Centre is to encourage interaction between communities and reduce misconceptions, prejudices, myths and biases.

The Peace Centre fundamentally believes that upon meeting and observing events together, individuals will appreciate different cultures and find shared humanity even with a backdrop of conflict and differing interests.

Mr. Mushtaq Sheikh and his twelve-member team spearhead the Peace Centre. The Peace Centre organizes diversity exposure trips, youth theatre groups, study circles, cultural programs, exhibitions, film screenings, consultations, and festivals.

Centre for Study of Society and Secularism
The Centre for the Study of Society and Secularism is a civil society organization located in Mumbai, India. Dr. Asghar Ali Engineer and several other prominent peace activists founded the Centre on the heels of the 1993 Mumbai riots with the dual goals of promoting peace and harmony. Currently, the Centre organizes academic and cultural events, publishes a quarterly journal and a fortnightly magazine, and supports independently run Peace Centres working with communities.
