Street Play
Date: 4th to 10th July 2024
Last month, CRY and Sahyog organized a theater workshop where a new play was developed to address the local issue of increasing child labor and the importance of education. This play was performed by the group in various areas of Vatwa. Furthering on this effort and to extend outreach to the community, another play was planned by CRY and Sahyog to strengthen Sahyog’s cultural group and its leadership. The new play, titled ‘Ladki Padh Likh Kar Kya Karegi’, focuses on the issue of girl child education was decided to perform. The play was explained, discussed with the group, and rehearsals were conducted under the facilitation of Hozefa from 4th to 10th July 2024. The play was rehearsed, prepared, and performed in different areas of Vatwa. It was performed on 14th July, 20th July, 24th July, and 25th July, in various locations across Vatwa, organized by Sahyog. A group of 12 has been continuously participating in performance of the play. This group consists of girls and boys from Muslim, Dalits and DNT communities.
Training with Teachers
As per the plan developed in collaboration with Apollo School, the FoRB sessions were introduced during the month. It was decided that these sessions would be conducted on Saturdays. Two sessions of FoRB were facilitated by Hozefa with the teachers of the school. The sessions covered ‘Understanding Human Needs, Human Rights, and Human Responsibilities’ and ‘Introducing Freedom of Thought, Conscience, Religion, and Belief’. The sessions were conducted as per below details:

These sessions focused on developing an understanding of human needs and broader human rights, linking them to the Indian Constitution and the rights provided to citizens. The FoRB sessions provided participants with a clear understanding of FoRB, as well as the violations of FoRB at the state, community, and family levels, and its broader context.
Processes
- To strengthen the volunteers and our work, meetings with youth, individuals, and community-based organizations were organized throughout the month. These meetings focused on grounding ongoing efforts, introducing new initiatives, and further strengthening existing work. A total of seven small meetings were held with youth and leaders of community-based organizations. These meetings helped in strengthening the relationships with stakeholders, ensuring their active involvement in future initiatives.

A space for Buniyaad
After a long and dedicated effort, we successfully received a space at the Punaruththan (A well known organization at Ahmedabad) Community Hall to conduct and expand the activities of Buniyaad. This significant achievement will enable us to further our work. The youth Rakesh and Niranjan along with Hozefa was actively part of the whole effort.
Participation :
- Throughout the month, continuous meetings with the Azim Premji Foundation (APF) have been held regarding the project focused on working with youth on peace and communal harmony. During this period, four meetings with different representatives of APF were organized, including field visits. Proposal writing and other documents related to the organization were maintained and uploaded on their online portal. These efforts will strengthen the work on peace and communal harmony and help develop a committed team.
