Dr. Asghar Ali Engineer Best Published Paper Award (2019-20) announcement.
It gives Centre for Study of Society and Secularism great pleasure to announce that Dr. Asghar Ali Engineer’s Best Published Paper Award (2019-20) is awarded to Dr. Nazimuddin Siddique, PhD and an Independent Researcher for his paper titled ‘Discourse of Doubt: Understanding the Crisis of Citizenship’ in Assam published in Economic and Political Weekly ISSN No. 0012-9976 published on 9 March 2019. The eminent jury went through several papers before deciding on the best paper.
Dr. Nazimuddin Siddique, PhD, is a researcher based in Assam. He completed his PhD in 2018, from the Department of Sociology, Gauhati University, Assam. His research interests include sociology of migration, citizenship studies, ethnic conflict, social exclusion and socio-political developments of the northeast. His works on these themes have appeared in Economic and Political Weekly, Mainstream Weekly, The Polis Project, Moneycontrol, Countercurrents among others.
Dr. Siddique will be presented by the Award in the form of a Memento and cash prize of INR 25,000 in the webinar soon. We would like to once again congratulate Dr. Siddique for winning this prestigious award.
The Award was instituted in honour of Dr. Asghar Ali Engineer (1939-2013), a renowned Islamic scholar and activist and the founding Chairperson of Centre for Study of Society and Secularism.
